Auto vertical BidCar.pl has launched in Poland. The site wants to attract users by offering an auction-based model of selling and buying cars.

Sellers on the new platform first need to provide their vehicle and contact details in an online form and then they are visited by an independent expert who evaluates the vehicle. The car inspection report includes information about the car mileage, damage, and other technical data.

If the car is in good condition and the seller accepts the quote, an auction is triggered. Buyers can read the car inspection report for free and if they are interested in buying the car, they can start bidding.

The site charges the seller a fixed amount of PLN 290 ($61.2 U.S.) after the successful transaction while buyers pay a 3% commission on the final price, with the minimum and maximum fees set at PLN 500 ($105.5 U.S.) and PLN 2,000 ($422 U.S.) respectively.

The site was founded by local entrepreneurs who previously run a small car vertical Poleasingowe.pl.

BidCar faces fierce competition in a market dominated by Otomoto.pl, Automarket.pl, Autotrader.pl and AAAauto.pl. Horizontals OLX.pl, Gratka.pl and Allegro.pl also hold strong positions in the category.
